17th Annual African-Americans in Science Day

Feb 21 2009 - 7:00am

17TH ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICANS IN SCIENCE
FEBRUARY 21, 2009 1-4 P.M.

Come to the Science Museum for the 17th anniversary of this popular event recognizing the
vast talents and contributions of local scientists, engineers,
mathematicians, and educators from the African-American community. The
event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and features dozens of stations where
presenters share their knowledge, work, and personal stories with youth
and families. Presenters encourage young people to study math and
science, and--some day--take their places. Music is provided by the Urban
Jazz Quartet.

North Star STEM Alliance students are welcome to attend the African-Americans in Science Day from 1 - 4pm. Meet other scientists and introduce your area of science to K-12 students and families. A community lunch precedes the event. To participate in the event, contact Simone Gbolo-Thompson, site coordinator for UM-TC.
