Math Tutoring Program
We believe that providing academic support for underrepresented students in mathematics early on and throughout their undergraduate careers is critical to their persistence in STEM disciplines. LSAMP program funds would provide underrepresented students with the kind and quantity of assistance in mathematics they need to be successful. LSAMP participants would meet with the math tutor on a one-to-one basis or in small group settings.
STEM Career, Graduate and Professional School Opportunities Exploration
LSAMP students participating in the tutoring program will be required to attend three events per semester that relate to STEM disciplines in an effort to increase awareness of career and graduate school opportunities.
Undergraduate Research Program
Students will be invited to conduct research by faculty members, the LSAMP site coordinator or through the Office of Undergraduate Research and Graduate Opportunities.
Students involved in the tutoring and study skills program, which also requires attendance at three events per semester, will receive a $300 stipend per semester. Student conducting 100 hours of research will receive a $1,000 stipend.
