LSAMP Activity

The STEM Scholars program at Century College will engage students to participate in a variety of activities with the following goals:

  • introducing them to STEM research and career options
  • providing community through a cohort experience
  • assisting students in becoming competitive for future opportunities such as undergraduate research
  • certifying the students as Ambassador Scholars and prepare them for a future role as mentor to other STEM students

Institutional Scope

  • Century is the largest two-year combined community and technical college in Minnesota.
  • Century serves over 12,000 students per year and offers more than 60 technical and occupational programs, a wide variety of customized training and continuing education, and liberal arts and science degrees designed for transfer to four-year institutions.
  • Century College’s Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program that provides opportunities to students who are traditionally underserved in higher education. The goal of SSS is to increase college retention, graduation and student transfer rates by providing the following services: professional tutoring, study groups, effective study skills tips, academic advising and support to help students stay enrolled, advocacy on financial aid issues, personal and cultural enrichment, and college transfer planning.
