North Star Fellows are student leaders within their colleges who work toward increasing the academic success and engagement of other underrepresented students in STEM disciplines. Fellows receive stipends for their leadership roles in:
- Peer mentoring and tutoring and leading study groups
- Public speaking opportunities at partner campuses
- Leading North Star Alliance events and meetings
- Leading cohorts of North Star Scholars to professional STEM events
Additional selection criteria for North Star Fellows based on holistic review of applications:
- Academic rank will typically be of upperclassmen (greater than 60 credits), though extraordinary underclassmen can be considered
- Record of successful completion of college-level STEM courses
- Demonstrated leadership skills and willingness to mentor North Star Scholars
