The Minnesota Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation
I was Born and raised in Togo located in West Africa, I came
to the United States in September of 2000. I attended Normandale Community
College for the Associate in Science degree then transferred to the Institute
of Technology in the department of Civil Engineering at the University of
Minnesota.
I am planning on working in Oil refinery (Schlumberger is one of my three
choice as far as Oil Companies go) as Field Engineer.
My summer research is on Sediment transport in surface water systems. I will be assisting Professor Lightbody in the research focusing on characterize sediment transport within a three meters wide sand bed meandering stream. Under the direction of Dr. Lightbody, I will study and improve the effectiveness of mixed size sediment transport predictions, in our case, mixed sand and gravel. By conducting this research, I am introduced to world class facilities and equipment. This research opportunity gives me the opportunity to work with the great researchers and scientists here at the University of Minnesota. Results from this work will be presented in a poster presentation at the end of the summer and, if successful, will form the basis for a journal article in a refereed publication, such as Journal of Sediment Transport.
