I grew up in Texas and have always loved the outdoors. I enjoy outdoor recreational activities like hiking, boating and climbing. In the past I have worked on trails, invasive species control, prescribed burning and other manual aspects of wildlife and environmental management. I came to school to learn more about the science aspect of the field. I am very excited for many of my core classes and hope for a full career in wildlife management.
I am working with Professor Robert Blaire and Graduate Student Scott Loss.
I am interested in wildlife, plants, ecology and related fields. I love the outdoors and would like to work to manage and preserve our natural world. I am currently conducting research on the effects of non native invasive earth worms on the plant communities in the northern hard wood forests of the great lakes region. This issue is relatively new, but with possibly huge negative impacts for both plants and wildlife. The vegetative survey I am conducting will reinforce previous research and help us to understand a rate at which the earthworms affect the forest, which will help land managers make educated decisions. As a career I might enjoy being a full time researcher, land manager or something else related to different issues that threaten the environment.
